Good News for Chocolate Lovers

Scientists reported preliminary evidence that cocoa and chocolates may help prevent high blood pressure and make your heart healthy. According to a study
conducted at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the flavonoids in chocolates prevent clogging of arteries and help the body process nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is responsible for healthy blood flow and blood pressure.
According to researchers, people should choose dark chocolates over milk or white
chocolates because dark chocolates have more antioxidants. Dark chocolates stimulate endorphin production and contain serotonin. Endorphin production gives a feeling of pleasure and serotonin acts as anti-depressant. Serotonin can give a lift to someone who is feeling depressed. Dark chocolates contain substances and vitamins that are good for the body such as caffeine, theobromine, phenylethylamine, anandamide, potassium, magnesium, antioxidants, vitamins B1, B2, D and E. Some also claim that the saturated fats in chocolates do not elevate cholesterol levels.
This does not mean you should eat boxes of chocolates daily. Chocolates are still high in calories and you only need 3.5 ounces of dark chocolate to get the benefits. It would still be best to eat chocolates in moderation.
